All possums, including joeys must be quickly and humanely killed. Possums are a pest however, they deserve to be dispatched efficiently.
All competitors must enter using the official registration form.
Pre-registration closes Thursday 29th August. Registrations accepted until midday Thursday 5th September – No late Registrations.
Entry fee is $10.00 per adult. School age children free, up to 4 per team.
Firearms laws and regulations must be obeyed.
Landowner’s permission must be obtained.
The duration of the hunt will be from midday Thursday 5th September until 11am Sunday 8th September 2019. Possums shot prior to this may be donated to the school but will not be included in the final tally. We reserve the right to refuse any unpluckable possum.
Pre-plucked fur is accepted and goes in the competition for most hand plucked fur.
Possums may be hand plucked – No tail fur.
Possums and possum fur should be clean and dry. It would be appreciated if hunters could tie possums together with rope for ease of drying at the showgrounds.
Possums may be trapped or shot.
No joeys to be brought to prize giving.
All possums and fur must be at Paparoa Show grounds for counting by 11.00am Sunday 8th September.
All possums and fur entered in the competition becomes the property of the Paparoa Primary School so that the fur may be sold as a fundraiser.
Neither Paparoa Primary School, nor the organisers can be held responsible for the actions of anyone involved, especially with regard to personal safety. Every care should be taken by participants.
Breaching of rules may result in disqualification.
In the event of any changes the team leaders will be notified.
Very wet weather may result in postponement.
Individual team members must be present to claim prizes.
Nodogs, firearms or live ammunition to be brought to Gala Day.
All complaints to be in writing.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
